Whether for ethical, environmental, of physical health reasons, many people are turning to a vegan diet, one that is totally free from animal products of any kind. If you are looking to lose weight, research tells us that people on a vegan diet are generally thinner and have a lower body mass index than non-vegans.

The Vegan Lifestyle

Many people see this as a time for change in their lives, adopting vegan shampoo and conditioner and avoiding any animal products, which would include clothing and other items. Nature shows us that we can live a healthy life by only consuming organic produce, and if you would like to learn more about the vegan lifestyle, there are lots of free resources on the Internet that can teach you about the vegan lifestyle and diet.

Blood Sugar Levels

It is widely accepted that a vegan diet will help to keep your blood-sugar levels in check, plus a vegan diet can keep type 2 diabetes at bay, indeed, many doctors recommend patients change their diet to include more fruit and vegetables, and some decide to switch to a vegan lifestyle as a way of managing their blood-sugar levels.

Types of Vegan Diets

There are numerous types of vegan diet, which include the following:

  • Whole Food Vegan Diet – A diet that is based on whole plant foods, with whole grains, nuts and seeds, which consists mainly of fresh organic fruit and vegetables.
  • Raw Food Vegan Diet – A diet that is based on raw vegan produce, and any cooking of seeds or nuts would be at temperatures below 48C. This is the ideal diet for someone with an active lifestyle, and there are some great diet plans online that include delicious fruit dishes.
  • 80/10/10 – This diet is a raw food vegan diet that limits fat-rich plants, relying instead on raw fruits and vegetables. Also known as the fruitarian diet.
  • The Starch Solution – A diet that is low in fat and high in carbs, the starch solution is similar to 80/10/10 but includes boiled vegetables like potatoes.

More and more physicians are endorsing vegan diets, as they are very beneficial, and it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy tasty food, far from it. There is a wide range of fruits and vegetables that provide the essential nutrition we need to live a healthy life, and by adopting a vegan lifestyle and using natural products, our health will always be good.
